Welcome to Charles Brown Elementary School. Our school enjoys a unique setting at the end of a quiet road in the community of El Dorado, ajacent to Union Mine High School. The student population is made up of 450 Kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school is identified as a high performing school by the State of California with an Academic Performance Index (API) of 839.

Besides a rigorous academic program, Charles Brown provides a number of successful programs and activities. A full day kindergarten program gives the students a strong foundation that contributes to the student’s academic and social growth. Students who need an extra boost in reading or math attend the Morning Club or Homework Club. Enrichment classes such as G.A.T.E. and band are offered either before or after school. Our library is fully automated and contains approximately 12,000 volumes. The computer lab was upgraded with new equipment and moved to a bigger room and is available to enhance learning.

Charles Brown students take an active role in county wide programs such as Oral Interpretation, Spelling Bee and G.A.T.E. competitions.

Our parents are an important part of our school. We have many volunteers who work in classrooms, on the playground and at special events. We have formed our own group to provide us with additional support. We call ourselves the Peanuts Gang. The Peanuts Gang enrich the educational process by providing activities and funds that help support the programs available to the students. The partnership between the dedicated and hard working volunteers and staff is phenomenal. While our school is named from a local resident who long served the District on the Board of Trustees, we enjoy the connotation that our name has to the famous character by Charles Schultz.

We look forward to meeting you and working with you in the near future.
